In order to increase production of Rohu fish that are consumed across India, Indian Council of Agricultural Research’s Central Institute Of Freshwater Aquaculture (CIFA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with hatchery owners to multiply rohu fish.

Looking at immense scope for development of fisheries and aquaculture, India has restructured the Central Plan Scheme under an umbrella of Blue Revolution and has set a target of 15 million tonnes of fish production by 2019-20 fiscal year, Sudarshan Bhagat, Indian Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare informed the parliament recently.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the increase in the Minimum Support Prices (MSPs) for all mandated Rabi Crops of 2019-20 to be marketed in Rabi Marketing Season (RMS) 2020-21.
